Astoria, OR. – Sisters, OR.

After many months of intensive planning, mainly as a distraction activity from studying, I thought it would be a good idea to stop reading other people’s blogs and start writing one of my own.

I am riding the TransAmerica Trail from west to east across America. Leaving my starting point of Astoria, Oregon, the first couple of days saw me travelling south along Pacific coastal roads, before heading inland to the town of Eugene, Oregon.

After a long, hilly, day in the saddle a couple of days ago, I have been ‘reassured’ that the hills I had climbed up until that point were not considered ‘real hills’ in America.

So far I have been hosted by some fantastic people; more than once already, I haven’t needed to scout out a stealthy camping spot as I have been invited into numerous homes. Such invitations are usually followed by varying degrees of cultural exchange.
